Oh, yes, his hunting abilities are indubitable :-) We train in Czech republic with specialized instructor and I must say, that Otis will be soon ready for exams :D But he doesn't like to fetch furred game, so we have to train a lot and then we are going to try the exams in Czech rep. of the month :D
I was in finland 6 years ago, and I haven't seen so beautiful country since then. Lot of lakes and so amazing nature... I love it :-))) Your dogs have to be very happy to have so huge area to run, play and train of course :D:D:D
I think it's great that they already get used to the car. It's all very exciting for them anyway on the day they new owners come and pick them up, so at least getting into a car is an experience they already are familiar with.
Yes, it was absolute freedom for Busby when we moved back to Scotland from Switzerland. There is so much space for a setter to run. For hunting here I believe you need to get in touch with a gamekeeper or other hunting parties. We usually have one shooting day in the autumn which is organised by our trainer. Well, a holiday in Finland is definitely something we should look into! It would be something really nice to look forward to for next year. There is another Finnish member over on the Irish setter forum and she always puts up the most stunning of photos of her dogs working.
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Scotland and there are lots of beautiful mountains and areas here. Glencoe has always been my favourite. I'd love to visit Finland sometime too. I guess summer is the best time as winter is very dark, isn't it?
This is the sort of terrain we train and work on...
(Busby was exhausted after a whole day working on the hills and just missed a pheasant there when we sat down for a rest...)
Hi... welcome here and have fun!
I love your photos its amazing to see Gordons at hunt. We hunt ours, too. It's so nice for them and in the evenings they are very happy and tired.
