Hi everybody,
we use (in case we need them) this ones:
they are rubberised and so very good to hold in your hands and they don't fasten with knots. We tried them once and are totally happy. But please make sure you don't use the lead to often, the…
Hi folks,
Many thanks for your replies. Thanks for the very good advice Tilly, I hadn't thought about the "automatic correction" if they don't turn - good point.
I just need to contain my frustration when using the lines as I seem to spend most of…
I tried the washing lines in the beginning but found them very inconvenient. Although they are of course very cheap they get tangled up so quickly and are sore on the hands (even through gloves). My leg got caught in one of those lines once with the…
Hi, I use training lines sometimes, it depends with which dog, I have one, which wont run on a line and when she did, always got herself tied up in it! I have a youngster now, which I put on a line, because she becomes too excited and doesnt stop wh…
I made my own training line. We call them a check cord here.
It's made from 1/2 inch, (I think that equates to about 15mm), soft polypropylene rope. I attached a brass quick release snap to one end and fastened the rope around the snap with rope cla…
hi everyone - we don't seem to be very chatty in this group? Maybe all Gordon owners are shy and reserved? (in complete contrast to the dogs of course!!)
Anyway having just been on a fab training course the last few days, and having struggled gre…
Funnily enough we'd discussed this at our last training day as I had contemplated getting some quail. In the end I had to decide not to go for it, though, because they'd be in a cage in the garden and there's a risk of the dogs getting 'over stimula…
Hi Helen, I have used Bobwhite quail in the past and had limited success. Firstly, they were so expensive to buy, I was terrified of losing them. Bob Truman told me to tie a length of brightly coloured ribbon on one leg so we could find them easily.…
I would love to hear anyone's views and experiences regarding the use of "tame" birds. What species do you prefer? do you use them dizzied or in a cage? What part of the hunting chain do you train using the birds, quartering/pointing/drop? How frequ…
Just have to share this photo with you! There was a pheasant at the other side of a hedge - he was on a lead, so I got dragged through the hedge also! He did a lovely point though! Took 3 of us 1/2 an hour on disentanlge him.

Hello Helen - it was very nice seeing you and Jock again and I hope you got hope OK. I have sore muscles today after wading through that bog yesterday ;-) Percy was totally exhausted and we had a quiet evening for once :-))
Hopefully see you at the KC weekend or end of March...
Best regards,
Nicole & the boys
Hi Helen,
Yes, I do remember you and Jock and also your other Gordon girl (apologies I can't remember her name...). I missed you at Edenmouth this year because we were in different weeks, I think... But I saw Susan Stone's photos. Congratulations on your new puppy and good luck with the training. We've also got a new boy in addition to Busby and I hope Peter will like him too :-)
Welcome here and have fun!
